Task 5 (Image Sequencing)
Task 5 (Image Sequencing)
For this task I imported my image sequence from Lightroom to After Effects as tiff files. From here I experimented with how I could create different effects by modifying the speed, transitions and durations. Through these tools I was able to create a varied frame rate, testing how playback speed could effect sense of movement and adjusted clip duration to either compress or prolong a section. For example, slowing down the first 18 frames of the animation creates a more suspenseful introduction or speeding up an action such as punches can create more impact.

Creating composition

Experimenting with overlap setting.

created 3 composition for each action, each moving at a different speed

Separated compositions to create 4 more.

- Mostly evenly paced with a slight increase at the end
1

- Fast at beginning and end, slowed down in the middle to create suspense
2

- Speed up entire timeline and added a sharper curve to the ending. Creating more emphasis on the final punch.
3

- Slowed down intro, created gaps in the middle to have a strobe effect, kept end speed the same
4

- Speed up first half an animation and then create a gap right before the punch. This left a surprise at the end of the animation
Queued up to export.

All exported successfully.

Reflection
- 5 stop motion videos were made
- experimented by
- changing distance between frames, creating a variable frame rate
- modifying duration of frames
- duration overlaps to create different effects and change pacing
- leaving gaps in between frames to create a strobe effect
